You fell comfortable there. The furnishings, carpets are older and cozy.
I liked everything - the complimentary breakfast was a wonderful plus. :)
The hotel is ideally situated right next to McGill for those visiting friends of family studying there. Staff is friendly and tries to accomodate requests.Rooms are a good size.
The owner is clearly skimping on maintenance. there are little cosmetic things like the wires to the recently installed flat screen TV simply hanging off the wall. More seriously, the carpet in my room was very old and worn to the point where it had different shades of colour where it was nearly threadbare. Must have not been changed for 20 years. Also, no coffee or tea making facilities in my room for some reason although I was told they existed in some other rooms. Last but not least, I had the misfortune of staying over the first cold days of the autumn (12 C outside by day) and there was no heating. Woke up feeling as if I had been sleeping outdoors. 80 pounds sterling is too much for this level of discomfort.
Very comfortable and close to the race circuit for Grande Prix du Montreal. Room was spacious and very clean.
Manager was very friendly and helpful when staffing the front desk. Location of hotel is very good - near main street but off a bit and quiet. Reasonable price. Spacious room.
Breakfast was bad. Rolls not fresh, a rotting orange in the fruit basket, all completely self-service. Poor ventilation in the room I was in, possibly not true of other rooms.
Very close to the city centre. Room was spacious and nice.
Continuous noice almost every night. Slamming doors, loud debates, squeaking stairs in the corridor. Toilet flushings in nearby rooms were heard clearly in the night, were noisy and caused us to wake up many times. Staff was inconsistent in their decision whether to charge us for internet and parking (three different people cliamed different points)
I really liked the staff - very friendly and the hotel was so quite. The location was fantastic.
I would only suggest one thing and that is to provide individual coffee makers or even a tea kettle in each room.
Close to Metro, 747 Airport Bus, and downtown
charged for in-hell internet access
Convenience of location. Victorian charm of the building.
The air in the room felt a little stuffy since the window could not be opened. The breakfast was quite "underwhelming".
The breakfast was pretty good; coffee was strong enough and there was a decent choice of pastries (chocolatines!), eggs, yogurt and so on. The staff was very nice and there was a friendly feel to the place most of the time. Great location, and the large-screen tv was nice.
The room was not really clean. The carpets were old and had not been vacuumed for a while. It's not that it was dirty, since the bathrooms were very clean, but that it was dusty and didn't seem to have been vacuumed and dusted, it seems as if the cleaning focuses on the bathroom (which is good, certainly). It's possible that they are understaffed on cleaning, but this is kind of a problem for a hotel.
The location needs some tlc for updating and freshness purposes.
The staff is very personable and the rooms are big.Our first room, the room # 23 on the ground floor did not have an internet reception, too far from the base. The following day the receptionist moved us next door, where there was a perfectly fast internet connection. The price of next door room was superior but ]the price of our room was brought down. The continental breakfast was continental but generous. The hotel is in a perfect location to visit universities, walking distance to Mc Gill, to the metro, and to Concordia. It is comfortable without being luxeous... a favorite in between.
There was no room internet connection in the room 23 on the first day. We had to change room in the middle of our stay.
Dingy, a little dirty, could have used a coat of paint a and a good cleaning
Staff friendliness, location, great room and breakfast
We were very happy to stay at a hotel that was a remodelling of an older historic building
wonderful location , walking distance to downtown and McGill University. Old Victorian townhouse on sidestreet. Interesting interior. Covered parking available on request. We really enjoyed our stay and will book here again in the spring. Great value for money in downtown Montreal
